The SMU Mustangs sprint squad competed at the MJ Invitational in Waco on April 26. The team faced a strong field and gained valuable experience with only one regular season meet remaining.

The event began Friday, where athletes participated in the 200-meter race, recording times of 24.44 and 24.56 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, an athlete finished with a time of 57.39 seconds, just shy of her program record.

Saturday’s competition included qualifying for the 100-meter hurdles, where one runner placed fourth in preliminaries with a time of 13.29 seconds and improved to third place in finals at 13.17 seconds—close to her personal best. Franklin ran the 100 meters and finished with a time of 11.81 seconds.

The meet concluded with the Mustangs’ relay team—Crissup, Chacchia, Sanders, and Sutton—competing in the 4×400 relay and finishing with a time of 3:49.26.

The Mustangs are scheduled to compete next weekend at home during the SMU Invitational.
