Rep. Mitch Little, a Republican representing Texas’s 65th House district, recently shared his views on government oversight and the role of nonprofits in Texas cities through a series of posts on social media.

On March 26, 2026, Little stated, “I’m looking forward to the first hearings of the House Select Committee on Governmental Oversight and am thankful to Speaker @Burrows4TX for the opportunity. Many are aware of my concerns about the nonprofit industrial complex in our cities, and this bears further scrutiny.” He expressed anticipation for upcoming committee hearings and highlighted his ongoing concerns regarding nonprofit organizations operating within urban areas.

In a subsequent post on the same day, Little alleged that “Texas cities are essentially laundering taxpayer dollars to nonprofit affiliates of political advocacy groups related to criminal justice, illegal immigration, and even voting and homelessness. We should ask why.” He questioned financial relationships between city governments and nonprofit groups involved in various policy areas.

Little continued by criticizing certain local prosecutors: “At the same time, rogue district attorneys animated by extremist ideology expend taxpayer dollars prosecuting law enforcement officials and turning violent offenders back onto our streets to offend again. We should ask why.”

Little was elected to represent Texas’s 65th House district in 2025 after succeeding Kronda Thimesch. As a member of the state legislature, he has focused attention on issues involving government spending and oversight.
