Rep. Marc Veasey, a Democratic member of Congress from Texas, used his social media platform on August 20 and 21, 2025, to express support for Rep. Nicole Collier amid political tensions at the Texas State Capitol.

On August 20, Veasey posted: “Not all Heroes wear capes. Thank you @NicoleCollier95 for fighting for America!” He continued his public support later that day by stating: “For two days, @NicoleCollier95 has been locked in the Texas State Capitol against her will because she refuses to allow our great country to turn into a police state. We stand with Rep. Collier, as she fights back against the wannabe-dictator Trump and his lapdogs. We’re proud of”

The following day, Veasey addressed Texas Governor Greg Abbott directly with another post: “See you in court, @GregAbbott_TX.”

Marc Veasey has represented his district in Congress since 2013 and has consistently won re-election by significant margins. In the most recent general election in 2024, he defeated Patrick David Gillespie with nearly 69% of the vote. His previous victories include wins over Fabian Cordova Vasquez in 2020 (66.8%), Patrick David Gillespie again in 2022 (72%), Willie Billups in 2018 (76.2%), M. Mark Mitchell in 2016 (73.7%), and Jason Reeves in 2014 (86.5%).
