Rep. Marc Veasey, who has represented Texas’s 33rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2013, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing recent political developments in Texas and actions taken by House Republicans.
On July 21, Veasey alleged that state officials were manipulating the redistricting process for political gain. In his post, he wrote: “Today begins the start of the Trump and cowardly Republican attempt to the rig the election. Using the flood victims as cover, Abbott, under orders from his puppet master Trump, is ordering Texas to redistrict mid-decade. This is just another attempt at Abbott to racially”.
The following day, July 22, Veasey highlighted efforts to support vulnerable residents during extreme weather conditions in Dallas County: “With temperatures rising and energy costs soaring, they’re distributing 800 free A/C units and fans to older adults in need across Dallas County — making sure no one is left to suffer in the heat just because they’re living on a fixed income.
I’m especially proud to see events https://t.co/7A98J1AhCo“.
On July 23, Veasey criticized House Republicans for voting against an amendment related to high-profile criminal cases: “Republicans on @HouseCommerce just chose again to protect predators. They voted against my amendment to release all files & letters between Epstein and Larry Nassar.
What are they hiding?
Release the files.”
Marc Veasey was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1971 and continues to reside there. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a BA in 1995 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2005 until his election to Congress in 2013.
