U.S. Representative Marc Veasey, who serves Texas’s 33rd congressional district, recently addressed constituents through a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. The messages covered topics including immigration enforcement, community grant opportunities, and the ongoing partial government shutdown.
On February 18, 2026, Veasey issued a message directed at small business owners in his district: “Small businesses of TX-33: If ICE shows up, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! Protect your employees, protect your small business and stay informed. #knowyourrights https://t.co/jgJMPJO151”.
The following day, Veasey promoted a funding opportunity for local organizations and individuals: “Have a great project idea for your community? Apply for a 2026 Grant today! The AARP Community Challenge is a grant program to make communities more livable for people of all ages and organizations across 281 different member cities or counties of the AARP Network Friendly States https://t.co/l8uNkzmsiD” (February 19, 2026).
On February 20, as the federal government entered its second week of partial shutdown, Veasey commented on the situation: “We are now a week into the partial government shutdown. Democrats made their demands clear: real accountability, meaningful oversight, and an end to abusive practices. Trump and Speaker Johnson can choose to reopen the government by coming to the table and making the necessary https://t.co/MAvXu9cEKp”.
Marc Veasey has represented Texas’s 33rd district since first winning election in 2012. He has consistently secured re-election in subsequent cycles; most recently in 2024 he defeated Patrick David Gillespie with nearly 69% of the vote. Previous victories include wins over Fabian Cordova Vasquez in 2020 (66.8%), Patrick David Gillespie again in 2022 (72%), Willie Billups in 2018 (76.2%), M. Mark Mitchell in 2016 (73.7%), and Jason Reeves in 2014 (86.5%).
