Rep. Marc Veasey, U.S. Representative for Texas’s 33rd congressional district, addressed his constituents through a series of posts on X in March 2026 regarding travel safety, the ongoing government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and support for survivors who have come forward with painful truths.
On March 17, Veasey provided guidance to his constituents in the Middle East: “For constituents from TX-33 currently in the Middle East, please review and share the important steps below:

The following day, Veasey commented on the ongoing partial government shutdown: “Today, it is day 33 of the partial government shutdown to fund DHS.
Let’s be clear: DHS isn’t going anywhere but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t change. What happened to Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and most recently, Mohammed Nazeer Pktiawal, is unacceptable. Americans want https://t.co/q9SDstiXzK” (March 18).
Later that same day, he expressed gratitude toward survivors who have spoken out: “We owe a profound debt of gratitude to the survivors who found the strength to come forward. Sharing painful truths—especially after years of silence—takes extraordinary courage, and they deserve to be heard, believed, and supported.
What we are confronting is deeply painful and” (March 18).
Marc Veasey has served as a representative since first winning election in 2012. He has consistently secured re-election against various opponents over multiple cycles: defeating Patrick David Gillespie in both 2024 (with nearly 69% of votes) and 2022 (72%), Fabian Cordova Vasquez in 2020 (66.8%), Willie Billups in 2018 (76.2%), M. Mark Mitchell in 2016 (73.7%), and Jason Reeves in 2014 (86.5%).
