The Latino Cultural Center announced on April 23 that it will host the Día del Niño Festival, a free event for families, on Saturday, April 25. The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the public.
The event aims to celebrate childhood through art, culture, and community activities designed for children of all ages and their families. Organizers say the festival will feature hands-on art workshops such as butterfly wing-making, alebrije design creation, piñata decorating, and other creative sessions led by local artists and community partners.
Live performances are planned throughout the day including lucha libre matches, bilingual storytimes, games, and outdoor activities. The LCC plaza will serve as a central area for music with live DJ sets by Disco Kids along with interactive games and prize opportunities.
Additional programming includes LEGO workshops facilitated by Brick Haus and shoe decorating sessions led by Pasos for Oak Cliff. Educational activations from local museums and organizations are also scheduled. A community toy drive called “Juguetes Para Todos” encourages attendees to bring new toys; those who participate in the drive can enter a raffle for prizes provided by Pasos for Oak Cliff and Disco Kids.
The Latino Cultural Center is part of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture. It is located at 2600 Live Oak St., Dallas, Texas 75204. The gallery operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to lcc.dallasculture.org.
Media representatives interested in interviews or B-roll opportunities are invited to RSVP via an online form.
