The Latino Cultural Center announced on Apr. 16 that submissions are now open for its annual Hecho en Dallas art exhibition and the inaugural Dallas Latino Film Festival, with deadlines approaching in April and July.
These events provide opportunities for artists and filmmakers to showcase their work, connect with the community, and participate in cultural celebrations in Dallas. The Hecho en Dallas exhibition aims to highlight talent from established, emerging, and working artists within the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
Submissions for Hecho en Dallas close at midnight on Sunday, April 19. The exhibition is juried by local artists Jose Vazques Ramirez and Michelle Cortez Gonzales. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 6 to 9 p.m., while the closing reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 during the same hours. This year’s event coincides with the World Cup in Dallas.
The Latino Cultural Center also announced its first-ever Dallas Latino Film Festival. The festival seeks short films that celebrate creativity, diversity, and storytelling by Latino filmmakers worldwide. Selected films will be screened at the center as part of a curated program including filmmaker Q&A sessions, panel discussions with industry professionals, and networking opportunities.
Filmmakers of all backgrounds are invited to submit works exploring culture, identity, community, or storytelling themes by July 24. Organizers hope this new platform will foster collaboration within Texas’s growing film industry.
Additionally, registration is open for LCC Talleres: Handmade Paper led by Natasha Vega starting May 2. This four-part workshop series covers traditional papermaking techniques using cotton and recycled materials.
