The Latino Cultural Center announced on April 23 that it will host a free Día del Niño festival for families on Saturday, April 25. The event is open to the public and will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The festival aims to celebrate children through art, culture, and community activities. Organizers say the event is designed for children of all ages and their families, offering hands-on art workshops such as butterfly wing creation, alebrije designs, piñata decoration, and other creative sessions led by local artists and community organizations.
Attendees can also expect live performances including lucha libre wrestling matches, bilingual story times, outdoor games, music sessions with Disco Kids DJs, interactive games with prizes throughout the day, LEGO workshops facilitated by Brick Haus, shoe decorating workshops by Pasos for Oak Cliff, educational activities from museums and local organizations, and a community toy drive called “Juguetes Para Todos.” Families who bring a new toy for the drive will be entered into a raffle with chances to win prizes from Pasos for Oak Cliff and Disco Kids.
The main plaza of the Latino Cultural Center will serve as the central hub for music and movement during the festivities. The center is located at 2600 Live Oak St., Dallas. Its gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to information provided in the announcement.
Media representatives are invited to attend; interviews and B-roll opportunities will be available during the event.
