Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, representing Texas’ 30th district since 2023, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political events. Crockett, who succeeded Eddie Bernice Johnson and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, shared her views on issues ranging from immigration policy to respect for elected officials.

On June 12, 2025, Congresswoman Crockett addressed a hearing held by the House Oversight Committee. In her post she stated, “Today, in the House Oversight Committee, Republicans called in governors from so-called ‘sanctuary states’ to try and bully them over immigration policy.” She expressed skepticism about the intentions behind the hearing: “They want y’all to think this hearing is about solutions. But let’s be honest—it’s not about fixing the system.”

Later that day, Crockett commented on an incident involving Senator Padilla. She remarked, “What happened to Senator Padilla is absolutely DISGUSTING. Point blank, period.” Her tweet highlighted concerns over disrespect towards elected officials: “Another elected official disrespected while doing their job.” She questioned how such treatment affects others serving in public office.

Crockett was born in St Louis, Missouri in 1981 and currently resides in Dallas. She graduated from Rhodes College with a BA in 2003 and earned a JD from the University of Houston in 2006.
