Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform this week to criticize Republican lawmakers’ actions and highlight concerns over immigration enforcement practices.
On February 3, 2026, Crockett wrote: “Republicans are in here cosplaying as protectors of women and children, but they were silent when Renee Good was killed, willingly voted to cut SNAP, and are now sitting by as ICE rips children away from their families. Miss me with the selective outrage.”
In a subsequent post on February 4, she continued her criticism of Republican legislative priorities and described conditions for minors held by immigration authorities: “Listen, children are literally suffering in ICE detention centers — lethargic, depressed, and subjected to inhumane conditions. They’re being exposed to measles and missing out on their education. Meanwhile, Republicans are spending their time writing bills attacking ten”
Two days later on February 6, Crockett referenced recent statistics about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fatalities: “Following ICE’s deadliest year in two decades, we do not need another massive ICE detention facility. ICE has caused enough harm to our communities. They have proven they cannot be trusted to operate detention facilities safely or transparently.”
Crockett assumed office in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2023 after succeeding Eddie Bernice Johnson and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. She won re-election campaigns decisively against Jrmar Jefferson in 2024 and James Rodgers in 2022. Born in St Louis in 1981 and currently residing in Dallas, Crockett holds degrees from Rhodes College and the University of Houston.
