Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing federal spending priorities, political targeting, and support for colleagues facing legal challenges.

On May 5, 2026, Crockett criticized recent government expenditures with the statement: “A BILLION dollars. Not for lowering costs. Not for helping families. Not for anything that actually makes the cost of living more affordable. A billion dollars for Trump’s ballroom. While folks are out here struggling to keep up with rent, groceries, gas prices, utilities,”.

The following day, on May 6, she commented on recent law enforcement actions and their timing relative to political events: “Let’s not ignore the timing here. This raid comes just weeks after Virginia voters rejected Trump-backed efforts to rig the midterms, and it is not the first time Trump and his allies have openly targeted Black women they view as political opponents — including New York Attorney”.

On May 7, Crockett expressed solidarity with Representative LaMonica over her ongoing legal battle: “Every day, I am amazed by @RepLaMonica’s bravery. Despite facing 17 years in prison for conducting oversight of ICE, she remains committed to protecting the people she serves. I was proud to tell @marieclairemag why I will stay on the frontlines with her.”

Crockett has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Eddie Bernice Johnson and previously held office in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. She won her seat by defeating Jrmar Jefferson in the 2024 general election with nearly 85% of the vote and previously prevailed against James Rodgers in 2022 with close to three-quarters of ballots cast in her favor. Born in St Louis in 1981 and now residing in Dallas, Crockett holds degrees from Rhodes College (BA) and the University of Houston (JD).
