Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who has represented Texas’s 30th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed a range of political and social issues on her official social media account. Crockett, a Dallas resident born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1981, previously served in the Texas House of Representatives and holds degrees from Rhodes College and the University of Houston.
On July 9, 2025, Crockett marked the anniversary of the ratification of the 14th Amendment by referencing former President Donald Trump’s policies. She stated: “The 14th Amendment was ratified today in 1868—guaranteeing equal protection under the law. 157 years later, Trump’s trying to erase it like it was a typo. No birthright citizenship. No due process. Just Trump doing what he does best—breaking the law.”
The following day, July 10, Crockett commented on Black Women’s Equal Pay Day and wage disparities faced by Black women in America. She wrote: “We shouldn’t need a Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, but here we are. Still underpaid. Still undervalued. 66 cents on the dollar means we lose thousands every year, for doing the same job. Over a lifetime? That’s hundreds of thousands gone. Pay Black women. Period.”
Later that same day, Crockett criticized actions taken by FEMA under Trump’s administration regarding disaster response capabilities in Texas. She stated: “Over the past 6 months, Trump’s FEMA has canceled critical grants, fired folks left and right, and weakened its ability to actually do the job—including helping families prepare for and recover from the devastating floods in Central Texas. Texans are paying the price for his https://t.co/opNI0K7Wo7”
Crockett succeeded Eddie Bernice Johnson as representative for Texas’s 30th District in Congress and continues to advocate on issues related to civil rights and equality.
