Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger has been nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Award, the team announced on Apr. 10. The award is presented annually to a National Hockey League player “who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”

Oettinger’s nomination highlights his involvement with various charitable initiatives, including hosting Jake’s HopeCrew Skate events where he skates with patients and their families to provide meaningful experiences beyond hockey games. He and his wife, Kennedi, have also supported HopeKids families by purchasing holiday gifts and sponsoring families during difficult times.

Following his gold medal win at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Oettinger collaborated with organizations such as the NHL Players’ Association, Amazon, Dallas Stars Foundation, and HopeKids to give members of his HopeCrew a behind-the-scenes tour of Amazon’s facilities. During this event, children had an opportunity to wear Oettinger’s gold medal. Amazon subsequently donated $10,000 in Oettinger’s honor to both the Dallas Stars Foundation and HopeKids.

Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts said: “Jake and his entire family are always looking for opportunities to give back. He represents everything this award stands for – leadership, character and genuine commitment to making a difference beyond the game. We are proud to name him as our King Clancy candidate as he is an incredible representation of our organization.”

Oettinger regularly participates in Make-A-Wish activities, hospital visits with teammates, and other outreach programs designed to support children facing health challenges. Reflecting on his nomination, Oettinger said: “Being able to give back to the community is a responsibility that I carry with tremendous honor and is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do. Kennedi and I want to use our platform to continue to support those in need… I’m extremely grateful to the Dallas Stars and all those involved for nominating me for this incredible award.”

In addition to his off-ice contributions, Oettinger played 52 games this season with a record of 33-12-6 along with three shutouts. He was named NHL’s Second Star of the Week twice during this season while helping extend the team’s point streaks.
