U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reported the arrest of a member of the Tren de Aragua gang, who was wanted for homicide in Peru. The individual, Alberth Jose Simancas-Garcia, is a Venezuelan national who entered the United States illegally. He was apprehended by ICE Dallas officers with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to ICE, Simancas-Garcia had received a final order of removal on August 18, 2025. In December 2025, HSI Houston provided information indicating his involvement in additional violent crimes such as armed robbery, assault, and firearms violations. He remains in custody pending immigration proceedings.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has released data showing that between June 1, 2011, and December 31, 2025, over 335,000 illegal noncitizens were charged with more than 595,000 criminal offenses in Texas. These offenses included over a thousand homicide charges and thousands of assault and weapon charges.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has said that under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS removed more than 670,000 illegal aliens from American communities. This figure includes individuals involved in serious crimes such as murder and terrorism.
ICE was established in 2003 following the merger of elements from the U.S. Customs Service and Immigration and Naturalization Service. Its mission is to enforce U.S. immigration laws and combat transnational crime through its three main directorates: Homeland Security Investigations, Enforcement and Removal Operations, and the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor.
