FOIA Request to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.

Dallas City Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The request seeks comprehensive records detailing employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This inquiry is made under the Texas Public Information Act, Tex. Gov’t Code §552.001 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The requested records should include data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The request acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but asks for all responsive records to be produced regardless. If certain portions are deemed exempt from disclosure, Dallas City Wire requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form.

As members of the media committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these records is vital for our reporting responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver based on our role as media professionals disseminating information to the public.

This request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
