Florida State defeated SMU 91-78 in Tallahassee on Saturday, closing out the regular season with a three-game winning streak. Chauncey Wiggins led Florida State with a career-high 31 points and nine rebounds, while Robert McCray V contributed 17 points.

Wiggins was efficient from the field, making 10 of 14 shots and hitting six of eight from beyond the arc. The Seminoles (17-14, 10-8 ACC) finished the first half on a 16-6 run, leading 45-27 at halftime. They maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.

Lajae Jones scored 12 points for Florida State and Kobe MaGee added 10. The team shot 52% overall and made nearly half their three-point attempts. SMU was held to 42% shooting from the field and made just under 40% of its three-pointers.

For SMU (19-12, 8-10 ACC), one player scored a career-high 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting—including seven of eleven from deep—and extended his streak to 38 consecutive games scoring in double figures. Samet Yigitoglu added 15 points on six-of-eight shooting and grabbed nine rebounds before fouling out.

Both teams now await their seeding for the upcoming ACC Tournament, which begins Tuesday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

SMU entered this game ranked No. 38 in the NCAA NET rankings, while Florida State was ranked No.73; this matchup counted as a Quad 1 road game for SMU.

The Mustangs started with their current lineup for the second straight game due to injury issues affecting key players who had previously started every game this season.

Despite being held below their average offensive output—SMU came into the contest averaging over 85 points per game—they managed to outrebound Florida State by eight boards (37 to FSU’s 29). Samet Yigitoglu accounted for seven offensive rebounds during the contest.

Individually, several SMU players continued notable statistical runs or reached new marks: one player recorded his sixteenth twenty-point game of the season; another logged four assists to move higher among school leaders in that category; and Samet Yigitoglu’s performance improved his averages both in scoring and rebounding relative to conference peers.

Head coach Andy Enfield is now in his second season at SMU with an overall record of 43-23 at the school and has guided them to a cumulative mark of 19-12 this year.

Looking ahead, SMU will play either Syracuse or Wake Forest in its opening round matchup Tuesday afternoon. Broadcasts will be available on ACC Network television as well as multiple radio platforms including Sirius XM and mobile streaming apps.

The outcome also impacts historical statistics for SMU men’s basketball program records regarding single-season scoring tandems, assists, steals, blocked shots, free throws made, three-pointers made by season, total team points by season, and more.
