The Bath House Cultural Center announced on Apr. 27 that it will host three new exhibitions in May: “Enlaced: The Language of Fiber,” “Where the Wild Still Breathes: Photographs by Lili Banta,” and “Big Luck: An Art Celebration of AAPI Heritage.” All three shows will run from May 2 to May 30, with a public reception featuring live music scheduled for May 2.

These exhibitions highlight a range of artistic practices and cultural perspectives in Dallas. They offer visitors opportunities to explore contemporary fiber art, local wildlife through photography, and works by Asian American artists as part of the center’s annual heritage festival.

“Enlaced: The Language of Fiber” features sculptural forms, quilts, tapestries, and mixed media pieces that showcase both traditional techniques such as weaving and embroidery as well as experimental approaches. Curated by Enrique Fernández Cervantes, the exhibition includes works from artists such as Sally Ackerman (Dallas Yarn Bombers), Paulina Altamirano, Monica Barrera, Juju Bartush, Sue Benner, Deborah Boschert, Jan Byron, Melanie Campbell, Han Cao, Angeles García Aguilar and others. According to organizers, these works address themes including personal identity and storytelling.

“Where the Wild Still Breathes” presents photographs by Dallas photographer Lili Banta that document urban wildlife often overlooked or under pressure. The images are intended to foster respect for local species while encouraging viewers to appreciate animals living within city spaces. Banta aims to shift public perception about urban wildlife through her work.

The third exhibition is “Big Luck,” which brings together eleven Asian American artists from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles and Seattle in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Curated by Mylan Nguyen—who also has work in the show—the exhibition highlights craftsmanship across painting, printmaking sculpture ceramics and other media without adhering to a single theme but focusing on heritage identity or personal narrative.

A reception with participating artists is planned for Saturday evening on May 2 at the Bath House Cultural Center with live music performed by Rafa X Josue. Admission is free.
