Councilman Maxie Johnson announced on April 16 that District 4 residents are invited to an Earth Day Tree Giveaway event scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the District 4 Community Office located at 4478 S. Marsalis Avenue.

The event aims to encourage community members to help make District 4 greener and healthier by providing free trees. The initiative is organized in partnership with BellaGreen American Bistro and the Texas Tree Foundation.

Organizers say that trees can improve air quality, provide shade, reduce energy costs, and contribute to neighborhood beautification efforts. They describe planting trees as a lasting investment in the future of the community.

“Come celebrate Earth Day with us, pick up your free tree, and help us continue Building the Community with the Community,” said Councilman Johnson in his invitation.

Community members seeking more information can contact Chief of Staff Sharron Evans Jackson, District Director Derrick Battie, or Council Liaison Edward Turner at their provided email addresses or mobile numbers.
