Council Member Maxie Johnson announced on April 25 that District 4 residents in Dallas have access to a special ticket offer for the upcoming Riverfront Jazz Festival. The event, organized by The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL), will take place at Fair Park during Labor Day weekend from September 4 to September 6.

The announcement highlights an exclusive opportunity for District 4 residents to purchase single-day festival tickets for $50 each. This offer is part of the “50/50 Dallas Citizens Special” and is intended as a thank-you to local residents. The offer is limited to four tickets per transaction, requires proof of Dallas residency, and must be redeemed in person at the TBAAL Box Office located temporarily at The Women’s Museum in Fair Park.

According to the statement, there is a limited 48-hour window before general public sales begin, giving District 4 residents early access. Attendees can expect live performances featuring jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, blues, and neo-soul artists.

The festival marks TBAAL’s 50th anniversary and its ninth annual jazz celebration. Organizers describe it as more than just a music event but also a celebration of culture, community, and legacy. For nearly five decades, TBAAL has played an important role in arts education in Dallas.

Residents are encouraged by Johnson’s office to take advantage of this opportunity and support local arts while celebrating this milestone event.
