The City of Dallas will present a free, public unveiling ceremony for the large-scale temporary public art installation ‘The World Is Ours’ at Fair Park on June 9. The work was created by artists Risk Rock and Mesplá and is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts through its ‘Arts Projects Spotlighting the Spirit of Sports’ grant.
According to an announcement from the Office of Arts and Culture, the sculpture stands eight feet wide and twelve feet tall. It features a bronze hand holding a gently rotating globe made from repurposed spray paint cans and decorated with colorful license plates collected from various places.
Organizers say that the piece symbolizes global unity and celebrates international sports as Dallas prepares to welcome visitors for FIFA World Cup 2026 activities at Fair Park. The installation will be on display throughout the FIFA Fan Festival period. The project receives partial support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Scheduled speakers at the event include Adam Bazaldua, council member for District 7; Zarin Gracey, council member for District 3; Dr. Teresa L. Jackson, advisory commissioner of Art and Culture for District 7; Liz Cedillo-Pereira, assistant city manager; Martine Elyse Philippe, director of the Office of Arts and Culture; and Travis McCann and Kyle Sauter from Gallery DeFi.
The ceremony is set to take place Tuesday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m., near Big Tex in Fair Park at 3809 Grand Ave., Dallas. Parking access will be available via Gate 5 starting at 6 a.m. Media planning live or simultaneous broadcasts are asked to confirm attendance by June 5 at 8 a.m.
