The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture will debut a temporary large-scale public art installation, “The World Is Ours,” at Fair Park on June 9. The dedication event is free and open to the public, according to a June 3 announcement.
Created by artists Risk Rock and Mespl, the sculpture stands eight feet wide and twelve feet high. It features a bronze hand lifting a gently rotating globe engineered from repurposed spray cans and decorated with license plates collected from various locations. The artwork is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts through its ‘Arts Projects Spotlighting the Spirit of Sports’ grant.
According to city officials, “The piece symbolizes global unity and celebrates the spirit of international sports as Dallas prepares to welcome visitors for FIFA World Cup 2026 activities at Fair Park.” The installation will remain on view throughout Fan Fest events.
Attendees expected at the dedication include Council Member Adam Bazaldua (District 7), Council Member Zarin Gracey (District 3), Dr. Teresa L. Jackson (Arts and Culture Advisory Commissioner, District 7), Assistant City Manager Liz Cedillo-Pereira, Martine Elyse Philippe (Director, Office of Arts and Culture), Travis McCann (Gallery DeFi), and Kyle Sauter (Gallery DeFi).
The event will take place at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at Big Tex Location in Fair Park, located at 3809 Grand Ave., Dallas. Spectator parking entrance will be available through Gate 5 beginning at 6 a.m.
