Dallas homeowners paid 2.7% of their property value in taxes during the fourth quarter of 2025, which is more than three times the U.S. average, BlockShopper.com reports.

The median home sale price in Dallas for the fourth quarter of 2025 was $213,870, based on 2,467 recorded sales during that period. The median tax bill in Dallas for 2025 came in at $5,786, reflecting 2.7% of the median home value subject to taxation.

The national average effective property tax rate for 2024 stood at 0.888%.

Within Dallas County, Mesquite and University Park posted the highest effective rates among local cities.
