The Office of Community Police Oversight in Dallas announced on April 21 that it will host a symposium focused on public safety response. The event is open to all Dallas residents and aims to provide transparency about how public safety operates in the city.
The symposium seeks to give community members insight into emergency response processes and an opportunity for direct dialogue with city leaders. Organizers say this event is intended to help foster trust between residents and public safety officials.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center at the State Fair of Texas, the event will include opening remarks by Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux. Attendees will hear presentations from public safety leaders about how calls to 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 are handled, resource deployment procedures, and technological improvements aimed at reducing response times. The program also covers crisis intervention, emergency management, and specialized teams serving the Dallas community.
A question-and-answer session will allow attendees to ask questions, share feedback, and engage directly with public safety leaders regarding topics discussed during the event. Organizers encourage active participation from community members.
“An open communication is fundamental for a safer Dallas. This symposium is about listening to the community, answering questions and building trust. We invite everyone to join us, share their perspectives and help strengthen public safety in our city,” said Police Supervisor Michele Andre.
