According to the department, officers responded to a call for service at approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 27, 2025, in the 6200 block of Military Parkway in Dallas. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive victim at the scene, and Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced the individual deceased shortly thereafter. The incident is classified as a homicide and is being actively investigated under case number 106752-2025. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective K. Castoral.

The suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Rafael Baez Yanez, who was arrested shortly after the incident occurred. Jail records and news reports from FOX 4 News confirm that Baez Yanez has been charged with murder and is currently held without bond. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting police with the ongoing investigation and victim identification.

FOX 4 News reports that the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 27-year-old Uriel Habram Palafox Rocha, who was found deceased in a neighbor’s backyard.
