The City of Dallas Office of Community Police Oversight announced on April 21 that it will host a Public Safety Response Symposium aimed at fostering transparency and engagement between residents and city leaders. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center within the State Fair of Texas grounds.

The symposium seeks to give Dallas residents insight into how public safety operates in the city. Organizers say this event will allow community members to interact directly with public safety officials and gain a better understanding of emergency response processes.

According to the announcement, attendees will hear opening remarks from Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux before presentations by various public safety leaders. These presentations are set to cover topics such as how emergency calls through 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls through 3-1-1 are handled, resource deployment strategies, and ways technology is being used to improve response times. The agenda also includes discussions about Crisis Intervention, Emergency Management, and specialized teams serving Dallas.

A Community Q&A session will be held during the symposium where participants can ask questions, provide feedback, and engage with city officials about issues discussed throughout the event. Organizers emphasize that community participation is encouraged so resident input can help inform efforts toward building a safer Dallas.

“Open communication is essential for a safer Dallas. This symposium is about listening to the community, answering questions, and building trust. We welcome everyone to join us, share their perspectives, and help strengthen public safety in our city,” said Police Monitor Michele Andre.

Registration for the event is available online for those interested in attending.
