Dallas leaders to launch fifth annual Summer of Safety campaign on May 18

Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson, Police Chief Daniel Comeaux, City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert, and other city officials will announce the start of the fifth annual Mayor’s Summer of Safety campaign at a press conference scheduled for May 18.

The event aims to highlight efforts by city leadership to promote safety during the summer months. The announcement is set for 11:00 a.m. at Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center in Dallas.

Those expected to participate include Arun Agarwal, president of the Dallas Park & Recreation Board; Dr. Pamela Lear, deputy superintendent of Dallas Independent School District; John Jenkins, director of Dallas Park & Recreation; and Manya Shorr, director of Dallas Public Library.

According to the media advisory released on May 14, these city leaders will join together with Mayor Johnson and Chief Comeaux to outline details about this year’s safety initiatives and activities intended for residents across Dallas.

The Summer of Safety campaign marks its fifth consecutive year as an initiative led by local government officials seeking to address public safety concerns during summer. More information about specific programs or activities planned under this campaign is expected at the press conference.
