The City of Dallas announced on April 9 that it is inviting residents, community leaders, business leaders, and organizations to join a conversation about the city’s growth and upcoming zoning discussions.

This initiative aims to involve a diverse group of participants in shaping how Dallas develops in the future. The event, called “Shape of Dallas,” is designed as an accessible evening for sharing information about how zoning affects daily life and for Planning & Development staff to listen to feedback from people across the city.

Organizers say no prior knowledge of zoning is required. The event will not follow the format of a typical public meeting but instead will be structured as an open conversation based on real perspectives.

According to the announcement, Dallas is working on updating its Development Code with the goal of creating rules that are simple, clear, and prepared for future needs. Residents interested in learning more can visit DallasZoningReform.com or contact Planning & Development at City Hall or other listed locations.

The effort reflects ongoing attempts by city officials to make urban planning processes more inclusive and responsive to community input.
