The Dallas Fire-Rescue Department announced on April 1 its Annual Themed Easter Basket Contest for seniors, an event aimed at bringing joy to older adults in the community. This year, the initiative is expanding beyond the fire department to include participation from other city departments.
The event highlights efforts by city agencies to support and engage with Dallas’s senior population. By inviting additional departments such as the Dallas Police Department and City of Dallas 311, organizers hope to make the contest a more significant municipal effort.
According to Susy Solis, assistant director of the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, various city divisions will donate themed baskets for seniors. “All baskets collected are donated each year to a different senior center,” Solis said in the announcement. During the event, all baskets will be raffled among participating seniors through a name drawing process designed to create a fun and memorable experience.
The raffle is scheduled for Friday, April 3 at MedWell Ste. 170 on West Camp Wisdom Road in Dallas. Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the festivities.
This annual contest reflects ongoing collaboration between city agencies and local organizations serving older residents. Organizers say they aim not only to deliver gifts but also foster connections within Dallas’s senior community.
