Dallas Fire-Rescue Community Outreach announced on April 1 its Annual Senior-Themed Battle of the Easter Basket Contest, an event where donated baskets are given to a different senior center each year.
The contest aims to bring joy to elderly residents by providing them with themed baskets and a special experience. Organizers say this year’s event will have greater impact as participation is expanding beyond Dallas Fire-Rescue to include other City of Dallas departments.
Several city agencies, such as the Dallas Police Department and City of Dallas 311, will take part in the initiative by donating senior-themed baskets. During the event, seniors will receive baskets through a raffle system where names are drawn, creating what organizers describe as a fun and memorable experience for those involved. Media representatives have been invited to attend.
The event is scheduled for Friday, April 3 at 11:00 am at MedWell Ste. 170, located at 3107 W. Camp Wisdom Rd., Dallas.
Organizers hope that expanding participation among city departments will make this annual effort more impactful for local seniors.
