Dallas Code Compliance Services released its June 2026 newsletter, highlighting ongoing efforts to keep the city safe, clean, and beautiful. The newsletter outlines a range of updates, resources, and success stories aimed at encouraging resident participation in maintaining Dallas neighborhoods.

The department announced that virtual Food Safety Training sessions will be held on the first Tuesday of each month to assist individuals and groups involved in unsheltered feeding events. These trainings are designed to promote safe food handling practices among volunteers. In addition, the City’s Consumer Health Division recently met with Dallas Love Field Airport Concession Management Group to discuss food safety preparedness ahead of increased visitor activity for upcoming FIFA World Cup events. The meeting focused on prevention strategies for foodborne illness and operational coordination at airport restaurants.

As Dallas prepares for more than 80 events connected to FIFA World Cup activities, Code Compliance staff are working on permitting coordination, vendor outreach, food safety planning, and operational reviews. One major event highlighted is the Dallas Soccer Kick-Off Fest 2026 scheduled for May 30-31. Staff are engaging with vendors and city departments to ensure public health standards during large gatherings this summer.

Other programs include the Manager of Pool Operations class schedule required by Chapter 43A of the Dallas City Code for pool facility managers; scrap tire training sessions; community clean-up pop-ups; mosquito season surveillance from May through October with approximately 90 trap locations across the city; and a hand tool program supporting non-profit beautification projects.

The newsletter also features employee recognition: Kashopra Rakestraw was promoted to Administrator after nearly three decades with the City of Dallas in various roles within Neighborhood Code and Nuisance Abatement teams. In an interview included in the release, Rakestraw said earning her recent promotion “represents years of dedication to our community,” and reflected on her commitment to public service.

Additionally, James Kasper was introduced as a new Administrator within Code Compliance Services. Kasper said he looks forward “to contributing to a professional, structured, and collaborative work environment where staff feel supported,” while focusing on learning operations and building relationships during his initial months.
