The Dallas City Council approved on April 22 an application and resolution to seek a $3 million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to support the next phase of development at the Community Park at Fair Park.
The grant is intended to help expand the park and add new amenities for residents and visitors. The move follows last year’s passage of Senate Bill 1, which identified Dallas as a recipient of funding for this project.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to receive this grant,” said City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert. “With these funds, we’ll be able to elevate the park experience and create an even more welcoming and vibrant space for the Fair Park neighborhood and visitors from across Dallas.”
After submitting the required documents, including an application and resolution, city officials say that Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will issue an agreement for Dallas’ signature. Once all authorizations are complete, funds will be officially awarded so enhancements can begin at Fair Park’s community area.
City leaders expect that with this funding, new features will soon be available in one of Dallas’ major public spaces. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve local parks throughout the city.
