The Dallas City Council announced on April 22 that Bertram “Bert” Vandenberg has been appointed as the interim city attorney, replacing Tammy Palomino, who is retiring. The appointment will take effect at the close of business on April 30, and Vandenberg will serve until a new city attorney is selected and appointed by the council.
This transition marks an important change in legal leadership for Dallas as the city prepares to search for a permanent replacement. The interim role ensures continuity in legal services provided to the council and municipal departments.
Vandenberg has worked in the Dallas City Attorney’s Office for 19 years. He graduated from Southern Methodist University’s law school in 2002.
The council did not announce when it expects to complete its search for a permanent city attorney or outline any additional steps regarding the selection process.
Vandenberg’s appointment provides stability during this period of transition while city officials move forward with their recruitment efforts.
