The City of Dallas announced on May 4 that it will host the third annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage and Dragon Boat Festival. The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the dragon boat race beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas.

The festival aims to recognize the historical, cultural, and artistic contributions of individuals and groups of Asian American and Pacific Islander descent in North Texas. Organizers say this celebration is part of commemorating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

According to the announcement, the event will feature performances representing various parts of Asia, workshops, food vendors, product booths, an art exhibition, film screenings, and a public dragon boat race. The festival is free to attend and open to all members of the public. Sponsors include UT Southwestern Medical Center, the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, and 99 Ranch Market.

Several city departments are involved in organizing the event: Office of Arts & Culture; Code Compliance Department; Parks & Recreation Department; Dallas Police Department; Association of Asian American City Employees; Dallas United Crew Delite; National Association of Asian American Professionals.

Media representatives are invited to attend for interviews or B-roll opportunities by confirming attendance through an online form provided by organizers.

The broader significance of this festival lies in its role as a platform for community engagement while highlighting diversity within Dallas. Organizers expect it will help foster greater understanding across cultures.
