Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, representing Texas’ 30th district since 2023, recently shared her thoughts on various issues via social media. Her comments address significant political and social matters affecting the country.
On May 21, 2025, Crockett addressed economic hardships faced by families due to political decisions. She expressed concern over a family’s ability to subsist on limited financial resources. “This is real life, y’all.” She criticized Republican policies, questioning how a family of six could survive on $15 per day.
Later that day, Crockett mourned the loss of Congressman Gerry Connolly, whom she described as a colleague and mentor. In her message, she reflected on his impact and contributions. “I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my colleague, mentor, and friend, Congressman Gerry Connolly.” She noted the significant void his absence would leave in Congress and beyond.
Crockett also commented on actions by the Department of Justice regarding police conduct in Louisville and Minneapolis. She criticized moves to dismantle reforms intended to address civil rights violations following investigations into these departments’ practices. “The DOJ found that police in Louisville and Minneapolis were violating people’s civil rights—so they created a plan to fix it.” She expressed disapproval of the current administration’s approach towards these reforms.
Jasmine Crockett has been an active voice in U.S. Congress since succeeding Eddie Bernice Johnson in 2023. Prior to this role, she served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. Born in St Louis in 1981 and currently residing in Dallas, Crockett holds degrees from Rhodes College and the University of Houston.
