Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, representing Texas’ 30th district since 2023, has been vocal on social media about various issues. In a series of tweets, she addressed concerns ranging from LGBTQ+ youth support to the significance of Juneteenth and criticisms of certain political figures.
On June 18, 2025, Congresswoman Crockett expressed concern over the impending loss of a vital resource for LGBTQ+ youth. She stated that “In 30 days, LGBTQ+ youth will lose the life-saving suicide hotline—a program that’s supported over 1.3 million young people.” Crockett criticized the administration’s decision-making in times of crisis by saying, “When folks are in crisis, this admin chooses cruelty over care—every time.” She concluded with a rhetorical question challenging the values claimed by certain political groups.
The following day, on June 19, 2025, Crockett reflected on Juneteenth’s historical importance. She noted that “Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come—and how much further we still have to go.” Highlighting its significance in Texas history and its broader implications for resilience and pride among African Americans.
On June 20, 2025, Congresswoman Crockett critiqued remarks made about Juneteenth being considered a non-working holiday. She tweeted “Saying there are ‘too many non-working holidays’ on Juneteenth is so on brand for a man who is actively trying to erase Black history.” Additionally, she pointed out fiscal irresponsibility by noting wasted taxpayer dollars and leisure activities undertaken by this individual since January 20, 2025.
Crockett was born in St Louis in 1981 and currently resides in Dallas. Before serving in Congress, she was part of the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. Her educational background includes a BA from Rhodes College and a JD from the University of Houston.
