The City of Dallas announced on May 8 that the open call for art submissions for the Pride Month Exhibition is now open, with a closing date set for May 18. The announcement also highlights upcoming community events including Jane’s Walk in South Dallas and an art exhibition opening reception.

The Pride Month Exhibition aims to celebrate and reflect on the vibrancy, resilience, legacy, and cultural richness of the LGBTQ+ community. Artists are invited to submit their works that capture these themes. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on May 18.

In addition to the exhibition, residents are encouraged to join Jane’s Walk in South Dallas. This event is part of a global festival inspired by Jane Jacobs and focuses on free, community-led walking conversations about neighborhoods. The walk will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 9, starting at the Martin Luther King Jr. Branch Library.

An opening reception for another exhibition titled “Tracing the Traces” by artist Chenxi Gao will also be held this weekend at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center located at 223 W. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, TX 75208. The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 9.

These initiatives offer opportunities for residents to engage with local culture and participate in community-building activities during Pride Month.
