Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, representing Texas’ 24th district, has recently shared several updates via her social media account. Van Duyne, who has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Kenny Marchant, is known for her active engagement on various issues affecting her constituents and the nation.
On May 9, 2025, Van Duyne announced a significant legislative move aimed at reducing foreign influence in American educational institutions. She stated that “this week, with bipartisan support, we voted to protect our universities and taxpayer dollars from Communist China’s influence by cutting the Department of Homeland Security funding to schools tied to Chinese Communist Party backed institutions.” The measure reflects ongoing concerns about foreign interference in domestic affairs.
Later the same day, Van Duyne highlighted local achievements within her district. She celebrated the University Emergency Medical Response of UT Dallas as “this week’s #TX24 Hometown Hero,” recognizing their award as the 2025 Collegiate EMS Organization of the Year by the National Collegiate EMS Foundation. Her post expressed gratitude towards these volunteers for their contributions to community safety at UT Dallas.
In another update posted shortly after, Van Duyne shared insights from a meeting with representatives from the National Alliance for Care at Home. She described it as a productive discussion focused on her efforts to “supporting and strengthening hospice programs.” This meeting underscores her commitment to healthcare initiatives within her legislative agenda.
Beth Van Duyne was born in Ithaca, New York in 1970 and currently resides in Irving. She graduated from Cornell University in 1995 with a BA.
