The Bath House Cultural Center announced on May 8 that it is presenting a new exhibition titled ‘Enlaced: The Language of Fiber,’ featuring recent works by twenty-five textile artists from North Texas. The exhibition is free and open to the public through May 30, 2026.
The event brings together a variety of creative approaches and expressive potential within fiber as an artistic medium. It includes sculptural forms, art quilts, tapestries, and mixed media pieces that incorporate both innovative methods and traditional techniques. According to the announcement, these works highlight the tactile and visual richness of fiber while addressing themes such as personal identity, storytelling, nature, abstraction, and other intimate narratives.
Recent years have seen renewed interest in fiber art among contemporary artists due to its material versatility, cultural resonance, capacity for experimentation, and conceptual depth. Many artists revisit traditional techniques like weaving and embroidery while expanding into sculptural or installation practices. Some combine textiles with unexpected materials or other media to position fiber as a dynamic medium.
The announcement states that “fiber also possesses powerful communicative ability,” closely linked to the body and daily life. Textiles are described as evoking intimacy, memory, and cultural identity; processes such as sewing or mending become metaphors for connection or transformation. This flexibility allows artists to express both personal and collective stories.
Participating artists include Sally Ackerman (Dallas Yarn Bombers), Paulina Altamirano, Monica Barrera, Juju Bartush, Sue Benner, Deborah Boschert, Jan Byron, Melanie Campbell, Han Cao, Ángeles García Aguilar, Corey Godfrey, Dayna Lingner, Laurie Mahoney, Christine Miller, Nancy Ofori Lu Peters Yasmin Ramírez Rocío Ramírez-Landoll Dionne Rockwell Carolyn Skei Jay Torres VET Carmen Villarreal Carolina Yáñez Robbie Zeske.
