Artstillery, a nonprofit arts organization, announced on Apr. 13 an open call for Dallas residents to participate in its upcoming public exhibit, “Dichotomy of Compassion.” The group is collecting real-life immigrant experiences for the immersive gallery installation, which will feature sculpture, sound, and video.
The project aims to foster dialogue about immigration and challenge common misconceptions by honoring authentic stories from immigrants living in America. Artstillery said it wants to create a space where community members can engage with these experiences and gain a deeper understanding of the immigrant journey.
Artstillery has worked in West Dallas for more than ten years and has previously presented work at Fair Park, The Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Dallas Museum of Art. For this new project, they are inviting individuals who have lived through immigration or those who know others with such experiences to come forward and share their stories.
Story collection is open until May 13. Artstillery stated that it provides a safe and welcoming environment for all participants interested in contributing. Those wishing to take part or connect others are encouraged to contact Paris Brown at paris@artstillery.org.
The organization’s ongoing efforts reflect its commitment to bringing untold stories into public view through art installations that encourage conversation within the community.
