Dallas County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Jeyner Velasquez-Zeledon, 23, who has been charged with one count of sexual assault of a child in Dallas County, Texas.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies apprehended Velasquez-Zeledon on December 10, 2025, at approximately 11:34 p.m. The suspect was booked on one count of sexual assault of a child, a serious felony offense under Texas Penal Code §22.011. Officials said that Velasquez-Zeledon is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Details regarding the circumstances of the case or victim identity have not been released to protect privacy. The arrest occurred in Dallas County and is currently pending judicial proceedings.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported over 2,900 arrests statewide in 2024 for sexual assault of a child or related offenses. Dallas County accounted for nearly 7% of those arrests, ranking among the top five counties in Texas for reported child sexual assault cases. Authorities attribute this to both population density and enhanced reporting and investigative efforts within urban counties.
Nationally, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Child Maltreatment 2024 report identified more than 57,000 confirmed victims of sexual abuse among children, representing roughly 10% of all child maltreatment cases nationwide. Law enforcement agencies continue to expand training and digital forensic resources to identify and prosecute child exploitation and assault crimes.
