On February 24, 2026, the American Federation for Children announced it has hired Sam Greener as its new Director of Paid Advocacy. In this role, Greener will lead the organization’s efforts to advance school choice through engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and advocates at both state and national levels.

The organization said Greener will support grassroots and legislative programs and work to translate policy priorities into effective action. According to the announcement, Greener brings experience in political and organizational leadership, including overseeing fundraising operations, coordinating events, and managing teams that support elected officials and advocacy efforts nationwide.

Tommy Schultz, CEO of the American Federation for Children, said, “The momentum behind education freedom is real, but so is the opposition, and we continue to build a team up to the task. Winning at the state and national levels requires disciplined, effective advocacy. Sam has a proven track record of driving results in high-stakes environments, and we’re excited to have him leading our paid advocacy efforts. His proven track record, strategic instincts, and drive to deliver results make him the right person to help us win the fights ahead and ensure our hard-earned gains are a lasting success for families who need us to win.”

The American Federation for Children describes itself as the nation’s largest school choice advocacy organization. The group reports having helped pass more than 200 school choice laws nationwide. Its affiliated Super PAC focuses on electing education reform supporters at state and federal levels.
